Our Story

About Us

We’re two hijabi women who’ve been through it all when it comes to hair struggles. Slipping caps, tight caps, itchy caps, hair tension caps... you name it. So we created Silque Co to change that.

Our mission is to help women feel confident and beautiful in their hijab, without sacrificing hair health. We wanted to create real solutions for real problems, and make sure women like us finally feel seen, heard, and celebrated. That’s how Silque Co became our little silk haven for luxe, practical hair care.

How It Started

We’re Shereen and Homma, two besties who met at uni and graduated together from UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science back in 2015.

Shereen is our creative brain. She’s always styling modest fashion with confidence and shares her life as a mum, optometrist, and content creator on Instagram. She loves connecting with women who relate to her journey. She is also a strong advocate against racism and Islamophobia, using her voice to raise awareness and push for change. 

Homma is the one who keeps things running behind the scenes. Alongside being an optometrist and clinic director, she handles the logistics that keep Silque Co ticking. She also loves fashion and gives back to the community as a volunteer optometrist at the Asylum Seeker Centre.

The Journey

Designing the Silqap wasn’t easy. It took a lot of late nights, failed samples, and trial runs. We were picky (okay, really picky) about the fit, feel, and function.

We wanted it to be:

• Soft and breathable

• Anti-slip and sleek

• Full coverage

• Adjustable, because one size never fits all

After all that, we finally made the silk-lined cap we always wished we had. And now, it’s yours too.
